With all the knowledge you have of a topic, it can seem that a few simple sentences are enough to do it justice â" but thatâs rarely the case. You have to remember that the person reading your essay knows nothing about you, save for a few basic statistics. Theyâll get you started, but simply writing about these things alone isnât enough. Generate a list of adults that can help you with the writing and application process. Too much input usually means your voice is lost in the writing style. If you are funny, write a funny essay; if you are serious, write a serious essay. The essay is one way to ascertain whether you can write well and support ideas with logical arguments. Listening to yourself reading your essay aloud will help you understand what is clear and what is confusing. Donât start with the end in mind, write to find out what you actually have to say. More work needs to be done in order to craft an essay that makes you trulystand out. When free writing about a topic, you may stumble onto an idea even better than your original. If youâve never done it before, free writing is just taking a topic and writing anything that comes into your head. Just take a blank document or sheet of paper, set a timer for minutes, and start writing. You can have a good essay that has 2 or 10 paragraphs, or includes a good amount of dialogue. Ask others - those who know you well and those who do not - to read your work. Know the essay word limit and stick to it - ours is 650. Identify a topic or talk about something that is unique and different Or, breathe life into a mundane subject by approaching it differently.
